VirtueMart Analytics
Q: How do I install VirtueMart Analytics?
A: VirtueMart Analytics uses standard Joomla installation. See instructions here.
Q: Which VirtueMart Analytics versions are available?
A: There are two versions available for VirtueMart Analytics:
- VirtueMart Analytics for VirtueMart 1.1.2 and higher, on Joomla 1.5
- VirtueMart Analytics for VirtueMart 1.1.2 and higher, on Joomla 1.0
Q: Does VirtueMart Analytics have administration UI?
A: No, VirtueMart Analytics has only operation UI. The operation UI is located in VirtueMart admin UI under reports menue. From your administrator site, go to components => VirtueMart => Reports => VirtueMart Analytic.
Q: Why am I seeing this blue rotating box instead of a report?
A: Orders, Items and Coupons reports are based on Panorama's pivot table, which is a flash object. The box simply indicates that the flash is loading. Since this is a big flash object, it may take a while to load. However, after the first time, the loading will be much faster.
Q: How do I work with the pivot table?
A: VirtueMart Analytics uses Panorama's pivot table in the orders, items and coupons reports. Pivot table is a powerful tool that allows you to analyze the raw VirtueMart data, make comparisons, detect patterns and discover trends. Working with the pivot table is easy. See further information in VirtueMart Analytics Manual.
General issues
Q: Why is the pivot table timing out?
There are several reason that can cause that:
- There are no orders in the selected range of dates. Make sure that you select start and end date that has at lease 3 orders between them.
- Server error - this is more common than your would think. In order to check whether this is server related issue, call the data feed URL directly:
- Find the unique directory in your web server under: ......../administrator/components/com_virtuemartanalytics/
- call: http://www.yourdomain.com/administrator/components/com_virtuemartanalytics/unique_directory/ordersDataSource.php
If you received an error page, there is a problem in the web server. It can be caused by files/directories ownership/permission issue or bad characters in .htaccess. The best thing is to open a support ticket to you web hosting company.
Q: Install fails with "cannot access file/directory error message"?
This is probably ownership/permission issue. Ownership problems are well known in Joomla. The best solution here is to contact the web hosting company and open a support ticket for this issue. The web hosingt support will reset the ownership of the website directories and files.
